Alright folks, bring 'em on! Let's see old pictures of your tanks and tell us a bit about them!

9b4416d3fd4ed0f90b78746e05aabe10.jpg

12-gallon nanocube
2004-2009
Mainly softies and LPS
Killer of many mandarins, SPS, and sponges
PC lighting - 48 watts of fury coming at you
Refugium in back middle chamber
Rocking an upgraded Minijet 606 pump
Had hydor rotating return for some wild flow patterns
Water changes every 2 weeks, religiously
Topped off by hand for 5 years
Water parameters? Clueless
Skimmer... nope
APEX? What's that?

Let's see your throw back tank? [emoji4]

I'd like to point out that even back in 2004, I knew to keep the star polyps off the rocks. [emoji12]

Nevermind the sponge and goniopora in the tank. I'm pretty sure they lived a whole day after this picture was taken.

Also, those orange zoas in the bottom right, I still have them. 12 years baby!

My first marine tank back in 2009.

One year after setup.
Some of these corals are still in my current system, mostly they all started as tiny frags from Omar in Cypress ;-)

105 Oceanic
Mag 7.5
Heater
RKL lite
Protein Skimmer
Refugium with Algae and Mud
Ocassionally UV sterilizer until failed

Honestly it turned out OK so far, I learned a lot.

Few days after the fill of Water, fresh and nice from the tap, RODI not needed ?????

When I look at that picture I do see all the traces missing, lol

One of the multiple trials to see what nutrient reduction might work for me.

I believe this is fall of 2005 just after Rita. This was my first venture into reef aquaria. I started in 1976 with fish only. I had Bluehead Wrasse (supermale), French Angel (immature), Reef Butterfly, Beaugregory, Tassellated blenny, Rock Beauty all hand caught. This tank was so old it had an undergravel filter. No pictures as this was pre digital cameras and we have been through 2 major hurricanes which took 95% of my artifacts. I think they were old enough to be called that.

Back to my first reef. I remember being excited on finding my first Caterpillar algae. The tank was an Oceanic 55 gal show with a 20 gallon sump, No skimmer. Mag 9.5 return

Hi ATXacrofarmer,

Nice selection of corals and mushrooms :)
What type of coral is orange one?

Zhenya
Thanks! That tank was about 10 years ago. [emoji6]

That orange coral is an orange sponge. Needless to say, it died very quickly in a nano tank. Rookie mistakes! [emoji4]
