Just got an email from premiumaquatics saying they had the trident in stock. Go buy it and be a beta tester for us (y)
They were sold out long before the email came out.. I’m not really happy with the way Neptune unveiled it.. they played us for 2 years and then when it comes out they only dump a very few on the market. That causes price gouging and just gets customers mad at vendors. They should have had a waiting list like everything else.

Lol, you know I was joking! I don’t even have an Apex running right now. If I did get a controller it would probably be a Profilux.
Curious as to why you prefer the Profilux over the Apex?

I definitely want a unit once it becomes more readily available. For now my hanna checker works fine. Anything Apex related I'm in.

yup. I ordered 2 on different accounts by luck!!!!! they arrive Monday via regular shipping because I just left offshore(should of gotten 2 day shipping, and i didn't even use a coupoun code for a free item of the week. LOL BRS sale started 1am CTS instead of 2am CTS(midnight Pacific time according to Terrence). I'm keeping one, and the wife is selling the 2nd one. She said she wants some nice Lights but doesn't want to pay over $1000 for them. the instock email from BRS didn't arrived until 1:59am. and they were out of stock at 130am... i never received emails from Marinedepot.com, or SaltWaterAquarium.com. This roll out was a massive clusterf#@k of epic proportion!

Here lately I’ve seen two Apex’s shut down and have issues.

The other reason is the Profilux seems to be very simple to program w/o all the complex code.

I have used one yet, but I’ve been in contact with a few people that have and they really like them. I’m just watching closely because I haven’t bought a controller yet, but I’m leaning towards the Profilux 4 because I’ve been really impressed with my GHL dosing pumps. They’re really good quality and very easy to use once they’re connected with WIFI and the Cloud.

I purchased the Reefbot. Waiting for it to come in. I like the idea of being able to test other components . When they add new test you can update the software and not the whole system

But as you can see in all those cases (a couple out of thousands of users) customer support helped them out

That’s a really big deciding factor for me is age of the company and support
If the company disappeared tomorrow what kind of support would you have these new companies come and go i would definitely not be the first to use a essential product like a controller on my system
apex has its own community so in my opinion even if the company disappeared someone somewhere would reprogram or make something (like a new brain) that would take over

GHL has been in the game a long time now and their customer support has got A LOT better in the last 5 years.

I personally don’t have anything against Apex. I ran one for years. When asked why I would prefer Profilux over the Apex now- those are some of my personal reasons. Doesn’t matter how great a product works, if it fails and crashes my reef that’s enough for me to be very cautious about purchasing another Apex controller. They better get that ironed out.

Here’s some pros and cons of each:

Apex
-larger user base = easier to get questions answered
-a few more modules/add-ons vs ghl
-people seem to like the glitz of Fusion and it makes what used to be difficult programming much easier
-a tad cheaper
-better logging capability from what i hear
-can buy just about anywhere

GHL
-build quality is amazing (German)
-it's uber stable, never crashes, never goes down, never malfunctions, never crashes a tank. Google for profilux catastrophic failures and you won't find any.
-it was always the easiest to program. No language to learn, just choose from pull down menus, check boxes and fill in the blanks. Even auto water change programming has always been included and easy to implement.
-customer service and parts availability used to be a little frustrating but great strides have been made and now there is USA offices/warehouses.
-fixable and upgradable at home. It opens like a regular computer and new boards can be added or swapped out.
-if you like having an all in one system, their led lights and doser are also top tier pieces of equipment.
-my doser 2.1 has been rock solid. So much so that I bought a second unit that I’m using now.

Not really looking to get into it here as its a bit off topic

i understand what you are saying and everything has its pros and cons and i can understand how one really bad experience can sour a brand for someone

I’m not trying to get into anything. Just giving feedback. I’ve never personally had a bad experience with Apex. I didn’t really care for the coding, but that’s about it. Other than that, it’s the recent issues I’ve been hearing about. I’m not trying to talk you or anybody else into buying anything. It’s all about what you personally like and what has worked best for you. That said...reef on!
