This storm may “swing wide” and come our way and looks favorable for better development in the Gulf.

Might be a good time to start watching this system and think about getting gas “early” and buy some needed supplies. We have about 1 week to watch and be ready if it does develop and moves into the central/western gulf.

I have a 75’ cord to reach my upstairs bedroom. I just ordered another 50’ Watt’s Wire cord for the downstairs fridge, microwave, fan, etc.

Both 10/3 SJTW
Meets OSHA requirements
New one is UL certified and NOT LISTED. (got to watch these sneaky companies)
3-Wire Grounded
LED lit.

The Iron Forge brand has a lifetime warranty and they promise to back it. The reviews a fairly good and it’s a good price. I just don’t like how they only have it UL “listed” when the other company has it actually “certified.” Finding a good extension cord can be a challenge especially in 10 gauge.

This is the more affordable brand, but decent. C4216240-8356-4508-9A57-796E57117575.jpeg

Best gas cans I could find for price and reviews w/o getting too crazy and going full Wavian Jerry NATO cans. VP Racing has some nice cans for the price:

But if you wanna go with durable long lasting cans that are better for transporting (I don’t need to transport much) then go with the Wavian Jerry cans:

Silly question but you can leave them out in the rain without cover? I had to buy a canopy for my gen because I was worried...😅

two power outages today. genny ran flawlessly. i just got done rolling the hoses up from the first outage....bam, back out again!
I’m loving my natural gas genny too! Did tests a few weeks ago and it runs the entire house minus the home AC, but runs windows units in the fish room, living room, and master bedroom. Keeps everything in the house, minus the two front bedrooms which don’t matter, in the low 70’s. I’m ready to go!

Can’t go wrong with a propane genny! The exhaust probably won’t kill you either.

It's crazy...even 4 years ago people loved this gas can and it's the only thing I've ever seen on Amazon with 5 stars and basically no bad reviews. Can wait to try these things. I hate my other Walmart gas cans with all the safety features.

Had some outages as well lately. Honda 2200 up and running really easy. Love this generator, has saved me from a lot, but I wouldn't call it long term, hate to have it running for more than a few hours if I can help it. My Generac was supposed to go in on the 28th, but they just told me they all have covid, well 2 of the 3 guys anyway, so might be a bit. Hoped to get it in before the hurricane season got bad but oh well.

I was going to say I have not had any outages or flickers for a while and decided to check first....
Aug 12th and 5th
July 28th, 25th, 25th again, 19th, 12th, 9th, and 5th.

I have lived in the middle of nowhere in a state that had blizzards and tornadoes and did not have my power flicker or go out more than once a year, twice on a bad year....

Propane is the best in my opinion. Tanks are portable and when everyone is sitting in line at the gas station you’re just hanging out at home, because the propane place didn’t have a line and had plenty on hand. Also all new generators typically can be converted to propane. US carburetion sells conversion kits. That’s the only issue with the natural gas generators. You’re relying on that pipeline being up and in a hurricane situation it can be dicey.

I’d say propane is more dependable when it comes to availability, but don’t count on it completely as your only option. I saw a long line even for propane after I left Buc-ee’s getting gas last storm. It was a place right off 45 south by Dickinson. I saw a lot of guys holding various tanks waiting in line. Always good to have a back up plan. 👍🏼

I like the idea of dual Yamaha or Honda inverter generators with a parallel cable. Together they can produce 220v. If one goes down you can produce 110v with the one that’s still running.
Me too. I have one already. Will probably get another one with the cable soon. I’ve been around generators all my life and this Honda is so quiet and portable.
