I have ordered some Vibrant for Reef Aquariums and have a question. Will it have any negative effects on my chaeto?

Sorry to hack the thread but I also recently purchased vibrant. Should I be worried about my macro algae, clam, or nems? Very scared, first time dosing anything except supplements

it does a good job on algae...so i would be very careful.....I also found that SPS don't like it, it did not kill any but you can see them definitely pouting. Make sure you don't dose more ( actually I recommend less) than it says

Yes I agree with less than recommended dosage even if you have to dose for longer. As with everything in this hobby patience. Slow and steady wins the game.

Dosing the recommended amount will kill your chaeto. I've done it multiple times. It's best to pull out the chaeto before it dissolves and puts those nutrients back into the tank.

I also had problems with loosing corals. treated for 3 months thought it would never work. One morning all at once tank was completely clear but some corals
also had died, Have not heard others say this but it did happen in mine.

Try Chemiclean...I used it in my 32. Did a number on all algae except the hair...use snails for that. Didn’t lose anything and I have acros, rock nems, a pricey clam etc

Used it this year on 2 different tanks. It will for sure kill your macro algae. I have all kinds of corals (zoas, sps, lps, nems, shrooms) and I only lost part of 1 sps (cali tort); but that could have been something else. Nothing else was really affected. Also, it will cause a lot of your snails to die of starvation, so if you can get them out I would. I lost probably 20+ snails that had been in my tanks for years.

It did well at killing bubble algae & GHA. However, don't expect results overnight. I used it weekly (or bi-weekly) for 2-3 months.

I was going to use it to get rid of bubble algae, I guess that my emerald crabs will have to earn their keep instead. Will try it out in my frag tank.

Just dosed 1 mL for a 20 gallon tank (half dose) plan on doing this every two weeks until I see results. Very very VERY scared. I have other tanks for the snails if I notice significant algae die off.

Thanks! I guess I’m a brave one... terrified but I can’t stand this bubble algae anymore. It’s preventing me from placing more corals and that’s where I draw the line. Heard worse things about emerald crabs than vibrant so I’m crossing my fingers for this to work!

@reeftopia is literally the only person that I've ever heard of having negative effects from dosing Vibrant. Bubble algae, in particular, is what it's great at knocking out. I've used it multiple times on sps dominant tanks to take care of bubble algae.
