thinking of getting a bottle of vibrant, as a few small clusters of bubble algae just exploded into a full blown infestation. I don't recall seeing it at any lfs, anybody know of one? I can order it, but I do like supporting the local shops where I can.
Well, vibrant and maybe a nice orange backed fairy wrasse

Call dennis at FJW. He has it off and on. I bought his last bottle a month ago, so he probably has it back in stock by now. If not, then he can get it in pretty quickly.

ok, thanks. FJW is a nice store, got a couple clowns there that are doing well, but a long haul from League City for one bottle of something. I have a busy weekend, so I'll likely order it. I'll probably call Fish Bowl or AquaZoo first. I get food and some basic maintenance supplies routinely at Rainforest and a fish and crab that are thriving, but I don't recall seeing anything like Vibrant in their shop.

I feel you on that distance.

My G/F works a block from OLA, so I can get stuff from there easily which makes it easy.

Is RainForest picking up more Salt stuff? I drive by it every day but I never stop there. Last I hear (I think from @Reefahholic) that they were in the process of getting rid of stuff.

Ola? Not familiar with that place/person, and it doesn't show up on the list of LFS. Can you elaborate?

Oh, that's one of my favorites. I was there last week. Embarrassed i didn't make the connection.
When i was first setting up, i got some rubble from them that really spread critters of all sorts into my previously dry rock. Might have been my best bang for buck purchase.

Rainforest has a very minimal selection. So minimal that I went by once and never went back. I think it was like a few damsel fish and zero coral. Two 29 gallon tanks maybe.

I get my feeder rats for my ball python from there. I think one of the guys that runs the SW used to manage fish gallery. He was very knowledgeable in freshwater and planted tanks.

Don't certain crabs eat bubble algae?
Yes Emerald crabs will. It is hit or miss though kind of like Copperband Butterflies and Aiptasia. Also the size dictates they don’t like the 3/4 to 1” bubbles. Too tough, bitter I don’t know never tried any in a salad.

I’d use Vibrant for bubble algae. Crabs will pop the bubbles and may possibly spread the spores around the tank.

There was once a veteran reefer that I visited locally. He had bubble algae, but only very few “large bubbles” here and there. I told him that when I had it... I went through the tank weekly popping the bubbles and trying to get it off the rocks and it went VIRAL. I ended up shutting that tank down behind it.

He then told me If you keep nutrients low that it will not spread. This is fairly true. However, he then proceeded to pop some of those big bubbles to prove to me that there was nothing to worry about. 1 year later I visited that same local reefer again. His tank was loaded with bubble algae in between and on all of the rocks, around the base of his acros, sump, and you name it. Could be a coincidence, but I never want to find out. I’ll never pop a bubble or let anything else pop one either. Vibrant will kill it, but it’s a long slow process and nutrient levels need to be monitored closely.
