Hi everybody! I am new to the site. I have a 72g bowfront that is cycling with live rock as we speak. I have a question about water purification, I am using tap water right now. I had used stresszyme marine to condition my water but found out that it will cause a skimmer to go on the fritz. Can anyone recommend a water conditioner that can be used with a skimmer? 8O

I would not use tap water. You will regret it later in the form of algae. I would atleast go to your nearest windmill and use their to water. I have tested my local windmill water and it tested to 2 ppm on my Tds meter.

Does anyone have an RODI system? How is it set up and where did you get it from? Are they worth while?

First off....

Secondly...

We have a number of vendors that sponsor the club that provide great RO/DI systems. If you can make it this weekend we will be giving away a high end unit from Air, Water, & Ice at the club picnic.

Picnic Details

If you do not win the unit I will also be giving away some coupons for $50.00 off a new unit.

In the end the units pay for themselves just in saving the hassle of buying and picking up water from your LFS.

John,
I am unable to make it to the picnic. I have a wedding in Silsbee. Do you have any units that you suggest? I am worried about the slow flow and doing a water change on a 72g aquarium. I had someone tell me on another site that it takes 5 hours to fill a 5g bucket.

Welcome to the site and don't be shy to asking questions. If you need water quickly I can make 100 gallons a day if you need it in an emergency. I always have 55gallons stored as a back up. My top off is a 35 gallon tank. One of the best investments I made was to buy a RO/DI. It makes life so much easier.

I'm a little closer than the previous posters as far as picking up RO/DI water.

I'm located @ 16700 Kuykendahl Rd. 77068 (near kuykendahl & FM 1960).

I, also, have a 100gpd(gallons per day) RO/DI unit. And I'll make you as much water as you can physically carry to your vehicle in jugs or buckets.

On a related note:

While i completely agree with supporting our sponsor's, here's the link to the unit *I* purchased in the distant past. I've been pretty happy with it so far.

btw, this offer is available to anyone who needs it - no charge
