I was watching BRSTV new vid while I check my stats. And look up at the tank and realized what looks like Dino’s stringy Algae with air bubbles. Recently I discovered I had 0 nitrates and phosphates. Now that I think of it I’ve had this stuff for the past month and diddnt think much of it. Nitrates are going back up currently at 1ppm ~. Shooting for 5ppm. Tomorrow is WC day I’ll be scrubbing the rocks and getting all the muck out. Thinking of doing a 10gal wc. I do have microbacter 7 and aquavitro remediation. Will that work? Or should I just get some vibrant this weekend? Not sure what to do first Dino outbreak I’ve had.

First step is what you're doing. Bump your nutrients. Second, I normally dose some vibrant too when it shows its face. That or introduce cyano alongside bumping nutrients. Cyano will outcompete it and it's much less hostile to corals than dino. Then just reel in the cyano.

Bump out nutrients. Never let either bottom out. Manual removal as much as possible. UV on 24/7 and blow off straggler Dino with Turkey baster daily. Make sure uv pump pulls water from DT and not sump. No black out needed. All Dino gone. No chemicals used

I let the output drained into overflow box going straight into sump. Water flow is near my skimmer to remove dead Dino. Also have a reactor running just a little bit of carbon to neutralize toxins next to area where skimmer is.

Also... I have a 55watt UV with dwell time ~200-250gph. 300 gal tank. You’ll need to figure out what watt is appropriate for your tank

Ok cool thank you. I have a 15 watt for a 40breeder set up. I’ll organize my plan of attack tonight. And start fighting this stuff back tomorrow.
