I have dual 150gpd RO membranes, and now that I think about it, I’ve been using them for about five years without replacing them. I recently got an additional dual in line TDS meter to test the TDS coming out of the membranes and TDS coming out of the first DI chamber so that I can see when they’ve become depleted (I always just had a single in line meter to test the final output after the second DI chamber).

So, my question is, what is y’all’s TDS coming out from the RO membrane? When I first put on the additional test meter, my water was coming out 8ppm from the membranes. Having used these membranes for years, I have no base line to compare that to. I feel like I’m going through DI resin much faster these days and think it might be time to replace the membranes. However, I also make a lot more water than most people, so who knows if it’s my imagination or it’s time to replace the membranes.

I just replaced my membrane last month at 14 months old. I was getting 6-7 TDS when I took it out. Down to 1-2 TDS now with the new one, 0 after the DI. Feel like my resin is lasting longer now and had an obvious drop in GHA in one of my small tanks, a 30g seahorse tank, that I rely on water changes to keep clean in the following weeks.

Yeah I’m thinking I need to replace them. I’m making water now and it’s up to 12ppm coming out of the RO membrane. Another expense, but oh well. I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth out of them! Five years is a long time!

Yeah that's a crazy long time. Thankfully it only comes out to like 5 bucks a month even if you replace them as much as they say to. 5 years though, that's like a buck a month! Not bad lol.

I replace my membranes about every 4-5 months and typically get 4-5tds after the membrane and zero after the dual di

I'm running two 75 gpd membranes in "series/parallel" where the waste water from the first is the influent for the 2nd membrane. It toggles back and forth from 5 to 6 TDS coming out of the membranes and 0 TDS coming out of the DI. I also have a booster pump on it as well.

I run mine the same way and boost them to about 80-90 psi. My membranes require a lot of power before they work as they should.

whats everyone starting tds though?

measuring with a lil pen style tester, i'm getting like 500 tds at the faucet. After my ro its like 10-12. 98% rejection rate still. So im hesitant to change out the membrane
