So my dad bought an apex el from @fjwaquarium at Reef currents! I told the apex rep (Vincent) to convince my dad we needed an Apex. And he succeed. So now we want to see what else my dad may need. For sure a trident for our tanks are gonna be included but we will prob wait for the 2nd or 3rd batch of them. Equipment wise I’m thinking he’s just gonna be Monitor power usage, and send alerts if something is about to fail or has failed. Temp control is a big one. And ph as well.
Another thing would be to program a switch on a bob to turn off equipment to feed and when my dad is done he flips it or just have a button on the app. Idk.

What do y’all have module wise on your apex and what functions does it do?

Agree with steve.
WXM if you run Vortech pumps.
Temperature is important.
It can run an ATO as well, which is nice.
Auto feeder is cool if you go on vacation for a couple days.
pH is nice but not necessary unless you're running a calcium reactor. Then it's mandatory.
You can get a pressure sensor to tell the Apex turn the skimmer off it overflows, or if your fish poop collector is full...that's nice.
I think that's all I ever used mine for.

We both run smart micro atos idk how we can incorporate that with apex. Vincent told us him self that the atk is not there greatest product. I like the skimmer thing. I’d prob use that for me. My dads skimmer is to small. But on his upgrade it will be a full size skimmer. We don’t run any Vortechs yet. When my dad upgrades hes gonna use 2 mp40 and an mp10 along with a pair of maxspect gyres. Not sure if those are compatible with the apex or not. But for now, the main thing would be temp. And my dad is one of those hobbyists who check ph every day. He’s very ocd. Now I just let my tank do it’s thing.

The things I love about my Apex
  • Auto Top Off - Makes it so much better to not have to fill up water. Salinity stays solid, no swings.
  • Auto Feeder - I feed 3x smaller meals and then one frozen meal a day. Fish have plenty of opportunity to get food.
  • Jebao/Jecod Pump to Neptune Controller - Nice to be able to change the "waves" to very light during feedings.

Gyre->Apex (not sure it works with the latest generation or not).

Icecap Gyre Interface Module

I use the tunze 3155's for ATO. Not sure I would switch over to ATK either.

I am using the ATK, initially I had a problem with it always turning off. It turned out to be one of the optical sensors had failed. Since Neptune replaced the sensor it has worked just fine.
