When I see it, I'll know what I was looking for. I'm going but is it heavily corals or do vendors bring fish/inverts as well? I'd be interested in some variety of Maxima Clam.

It's mostly corals but a few vendors will bring fish as well. You'll see some clams too.

I use to have a derasa. How much more difficult are maxima?
I’ve had about 7 maxima all dead in about a months time. I’ve kept all of the different tridacna clam (except for a giga and hippo). If they don’t like the light and your water parameters consider it a super expensive meal for all your fish and cuc.

If you like the look of a maxima, then find a nice squamosa. Squamosa are easy as well, and they can be just as beautiful as maximas

One great clam that only shows up every 5 years is the Crocea clam and it’s super hardy it was the first clam I bought when I was only 3 months in the hobby. Also if you find a blue Squamosa that would be a great pick as well. But they are gonna be a bit more expensive then the brown Squamosa and the Squamosa is very slow grower which is good for most people.

And the derasa are super great, and pretty fast growers in the right water parameters and lights. But maximas you can try one but don’t get one under 2 in. Get one that is 4in big cus they aren’t as needy. And make sure it reacts if you wave your hand over it. Maximas aren’t as forgiving as the other clams.
Hope this all helps.
