I have this one I'm going to call a "Hawaiian Pink Lady." What do you guys think I should ask for it? Since I've never seen one before, I'm inclined to think its the only one in existence today. That should be good for a hefty premium....any bidders before I list it elsewhere?

I'll trade you a Idaho Sunrise for a Hawaiian Pink Lady LOL! I kid, but yeah....the market is crazy and overpriced, but so long as there is even one person willing to pay $$$ for a fancy name and photo-shopped colors, commercial vendors are going to keep charging the prices they do, even the reputable ones [emoji2368]

The first nem my son bought looked just like that for about 2 months. Then it curled up for about 3 to 4 weeks and come out looking like this. Bad lighting makes it look a little pale right now.

or this with an orphic light on it.

I don't get the price gouging on anemones. I remember some guy paid 1400 for a anemone at an LFSs anniversary a year back. I thought he was insane. I'm really thinking that alot of this is a fad, like jinco jeans and pokemon.

I'll stick with my cheap stuff.

I’m still playing Pokémon.

I totally agree. The nem I posted the pic for with green tips... I was told it was an Inferno and I paid $150 for it. I didn't know much about Rainbow BTAs when I bought it and it turns out I very likely paid a high price for a really pretty Rainbow. You make a very good point. Shame on them...and shame on me for not knowing any better. With all of the different BTAs out there they all just look so similar to me. I actually did look up some pictures of what an Inferno looked like and I guess I convinced myself that what I was buying looked like the pictures I found. Lesson learned. And thanks for creating this thread! This is really good discussion! And BTW, I was put in contact with the seller through MARSH. So be careful out there!
That’s def a too good to be true situation, inferno nems are like $800+ correct?

I adjusted the pale (white balance) on your photos. Zero saturation, just polished them up a bit.

Too good to be true?...not in all cases. I actually reached out to the guy today that sold me the nem, let's call him J, and asked him how and where he got his mother nem because of this question. It was as I suspected. J had a buddy that has had Infernos for years. J really wanted one and his buddy sold him a split for a good price. For whatever reason J turned around and extended me the same favor. Just because J or I didn't pay $800 for our nems doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't Inferno BTAs. In order not to hijack this thread anymore than I already have, at some point I will start a new discussion thread whether or not my nem is really an Inferno or not. Here's the point of my post though, even if my nem proves to truly be an Inferno, I'm not planning on selling any of the splits for more than I paid for mine. Certainly not gonna ask $800 for one. Capitalism aside, I completely agree with one of the points made in this thread that price gouging has become way out of hand. Especially when it comes to BTAs. One of the things that I really enjoy about MARSH is that you can get some really nice stuff for some really great deals that would normally be out of my price range. And yes, we all need to be careful that we're don't end up buying a Rainbow BTA for the price of a Chicago BTA. Sorry @Betcao01 if I hijacked your thread too much. I've really enjoyed all of the discussion that your thread has generated! Been some really kewl pics of some really nice BTAs as well!!
