i found this about a month ago and thought it was neat since when i got these rocks there was only dead coral marks on the rocks now some mystery thing is on them but then it disappeared when i adjusted my rocks and lately has come back and it looks bigger and alive its black and has wavy little tentacles that sway in the current so the question is do i keep or do i panic and try and kill it
there was a frag stand i found in the sand that i got from trigger fan and i placed it under the light cause im curious

Kinda hard to tell from the pictures, looks like maybe algae? Definitely not weed though, pretty sure those don't grow in aquariums.

I can't 100% see from the picture and I'm no Cody, however if it's loose and wavy, it's probably a microbial mishmash of cyano, algae, mold, & bacteria.

I usually vacuum out stuff like this during water changes, 100% if it's near a coral. It should easily vacuum out.

I may be wrong, but it may be the beginnings of different strains of coraline algae starting to develop. Typically when coralline starts to develop you will see green patches pop up then purple and other colors depending on the varieties your tank is exposed to.
