I think my next new reef toy will be an auto tester.

I’m waiting on the one that does Alk, Cal, Mag, NO3, ULR PO4, Potassium, Iodine, etc.

With the pandemic still looming, that day is probably far off.

The Reef Bot was almost what I was looking for but not exactly.

Elaborate why Iodine and potassium are on that list.

Because the corals do better with those elements and hobby grade test kits make it very difficult trying to test for those. Add iron to the list. My Marco’s and corals drink it like fruit punch and if you dose too much all the Acro’s turn into Rainbow Loom’s. :)

I love the idea of an octopus thread! Awesome! But what about fish breeding?? Seems like it has been forever since anyone has posted pics of their baby clownfish. When I first got into the hobby 25+ years ago I told myself that at some point I would like to learn how to breed clownfish. That dream has LONG since faded, but I do like living vicariously through other's clownfish breeding threads though. Cody's Designer Clowns!. Hahaha.

Another kewl thread would be starting a seahorse and pipefish tank. I bet you would be good at keeping gorgonians for sure. I also wish there more threads of gorgonians in folks' tanks.

i had a pipefish tank once. hatching brine shrimp daily became such a chore. The new brine shrimp hatcheries are super nice. I might circle back and try it again.

as for toys. new scope for my long range rifle.

fish related toy - gonna set up my frag tank/qt tank. iI need to stop putting stuff straight into my DT.

I love new gadgets but man lack of fish/coral inventory in LFS is pretty discouraging. The nice stuff too expensive or not for sale since Lfs is cherry picking.

Even the selection at Live Aquaria is low - a whole lot of their fish are out of stock. I hope their quality is not going downhill. I just got a shipment of 6 red stop light cardinalfish and 6 black axil chromis, and 2 cardinals and 1 chromis were dead on arrival. I don't think I've ever had anything arrive dead from them before. These were all pretty small fish, so maybe they don't ship as well.

I'm in the market for a new protein skimmer (you know it's time to do something when you plug in your skimmer and see and hear sparks in the sump). A lot of the skimmers at LA and BRS are out of stock.

Have you guys seen any 2-part shortages and what about Calcium Reactor media. Is it still hard to get or has it gone up? Salt? Anything that’s gone way up?

Speaking of supply and demand:

I'll be needing a new skimmer sooner rather than later, tested my old one today and it still works but it was just enough for my old 100G tank and won't be enough for the new 240G.

I'm also brand new to apex programming and excited to try some fun things out. I think my first buy will be some cute feeding/water change buttons off eBay or Etsy to connect to a breakout box so I have a physical button for feeds and water changes!

I’m running a smaller version of this (600i) on my 105/G. Had a 1000ix on my 75/G and it was overkill. Best, most compact, & silent skimmer I’ve owned to date. When you click the pics the DC pump is the smaller pump with ridges. AC is larger and smooth body.

Here is where I tore it apart and showed all the pieces. I also run it in my small quiet laundry room at the end. Super silent skimmer!
