Sad to say it.. but I'm moving soon. Selling off basically everything other than some livestock that is going to be held for me.

At my new location I'm trying to figure out what I want to do...

Red Sea, Water Box, Planet, Custom

I think the MAX that my wife will even let me entertain is 86" - I'm thinking rimless or slightly recessed perimeter braced

Way out. Nocona. North and West of Dallas towards Wichita Falls.

Cade 1800 Peninsula Series 2 | Marine Aquariums | CADE USA is what I would want just bc of small feature differences.

Of the tanks listed, I think the waterbox. The redsea has the eurobracing and with the water level under the eurobracing it looks odd to me. I also prefer the waterbox sump and stand.
I will take a look at those.

Elos 200xL comes to mind but I bet they are a mint and probably have same logistical issues.

One thing to consider before you go too crazy…is that up that far north…you are in major Tornado country sir. You will need a good shelter for you and the wife. Better to be smart

Wish somebody would have told me this when I moved to Tyler. Had no idea. A few years after I move back south a huge Tornado obliterated Canton, TX. Just NW of my location.

As far as tanks, I’d say Planet because they are in Dallas and because they build awesome tanks for good prices.

2nd choice is Waterbox.

It’s my wife’s parents house. Her dad built it in 1995. So far no tornadoes out there. Some of the homes have shelters though. We are looking at getting one along with some other modifications to the home.

Love my Red Sea S-1000, but would go with Water Box if I could do it again. Planet is second choice. CADE is nice, but they are a huge pita to keep clean. Know a few with them and they all say the same, worst maintenance ever with everything shoved in the overflow in the back.

Confidence in the product mostly. I've had Red Seas break, never had a water box fail. Also had issues with the red sea stands, missdrilled holes and missing parts and the like. Otherwise they are pretty similar, just different orientations, and both make great tanks in the end. Availability is certainly an issue though with the water box.

Several Red Sea’s failed not that long ago. That had a major stand flaw on certain models (mostly the bigger model). That said…I would never buy a Red Sea. If you have one, don’t freak…just make sure the stand is supported right. Especially in the middle on longer tanks and also double check which model you have. If you have one of the bad ones, double check that yours is ok or you have the updated version.

Reading about these tank failures. If the tank is in a cabinet the sides can be reinforced on the exterior to help prevent catastrophic failure. But for the money the manufacturers are demanding they should not leak. I have had my tank since June of 1997. Sides or bottom never leaked. Top did a few times a bit cus I like to hide the water line.

the majority of leaks that happened to the 750xxl was because it has a long span of unsupported area under one side of the tank. It was marketed as a "positive" to allow easy access to the sump for maintenance or even sump removal. it was later found out that span sagged and caused pressure points in the tank that allowed it to leak.

Majority of the tanks listed here have metal framed stands. I think the cade aquariums have the most elaborate stands outta the list. I wouldn't hold what happened with the 750xxl against red sea when comparing it to this "class" of aquariums.
