Looking for ideas, opinions, etc for an acrylic lid for my 48”x24” rimless tank. I have a diy lid and I’m just looking to upgrade. I’ve seen the octo and artfully lids, just looking for any input or opinions or other options.

pics would be awesome too!

Would it be cheaper just to make your own ? All I know is the more air tight everything is the less evaporation you will probably have

I had glass lids for a while but I became concerned about air exchange and they are hard to keep clean as water splashed from the bottom and dust on top.

I switched to the mesh top by redsea and couldn’t be happier. It’s easy to clean and I can drop food through the top without having to lift the lids.

Is it ok to have the aquarium top covered? I always had the glass lids that came with but never used them + had no way to clamp the lights using the lids.

Ya. I prefer having my lights with no glass in between. Keeping glass clean can be a bit of work. My favorite lid was on a buddy's tank. He used a garage door opener to raise and lower the lid.

How big was the tank? A 1/2 horse garage door opener on a fish tank? How do you even make that work?

Yeah, that artfully acrylic, same company. Looking at the Tsunami from those guys but for a 48" long tank it has to have a center brace. I run 3 radion xr30 lights and don't want the center brace.

Do you have one? If so, like it?

Check out The Kraken Reef. They make custom acrylic lids like the others you mentioned. Higher quality than Octo IMO. Quick turnaround time too. Highly recommended!

I have had one and loved it... only downfall to the custom acrylic lids if you don’t DIY is the $$$ They’re going to run you almost the cost of the tank they’ll be able to fit on

I stumbled across the kraken kids earlier today, glad to hear someone knows them and like them. They seem reasonable priced.

i like the clear view tsunami because it can be modified if I change my tank up... lord knows we all do that over time.

Not as worried about price, I have and am adding fish that cost more than that lid. Lol

It was a 125 high. I have a 125 wide. He told me he bent over and got stuck it in it once. lol. He lives in Michigan. He also told me he tried feeding his fish dog food ... lol x2.
