Yesterday.... I did a thing. Went to a fish store in Pearland that I’d never been to before. Very nice store, healthy stuff, a little pricey but they had a very large ‘discount tank’ like 2 for $30, 2 for $40, 2 for $50 etc. So of course, me being broke, I looked so hard in the discount section for a hidden gem that my eyes started crossing. And then I found him. That thing all reefers hope to find... a beautiful little thing in the discount section. I have no idea what he is, my best guess is a torch but he’s just so skinny I don’t know. So here’s my new purchase! $25 I just couldn’t pass that up so now I’ve got a mystery man. 0D5A666D-0478-4667-965D-50BACCD80A1F.jpeg C991921E-1950-4FFF-9203-BF1EE7E47DED.jpeg
As y’all can see, he’s very rainbow and I really do love him. Feed him reefroids today and he ate like a torch would. He just doesn’t look very much like a torch. Is he just a really skinny one? Thanks y’all

Interesting. Never seen one with those colors.
What you planing to do?
I’m gonna keep it on the frag rack for the time being, planning on doing reefroids every day or every other day until it looks healthier. The tentacles imo are definitely too skinny for a torch. Here’s my torch and my mystery rainbow, they’re about the same size. 78B00535-87F1-40F2-B56B-0D225A50A8AB.jpeg 480C7F44-D15D-4BE1-8AB1-07D58B810E04.jpeg A8C6757A-18CA-49F3-9989-9767B60C249A.jpeg 0664360D-4692-4654-9307-F45B06C5A872.jpeg

Looks like galaxea to me; it’s a euphyllia like torches, hammers, etc.. Be careful with placement... their sting is worse than a torch’s and they can have loooooooong sweepers.

Yeah! I was actually avoiding galaxea for that reason... my tank is too small to isolate it like that. I think I have a massive problem on my hands. Sweepers get to like 6 in right?

it’s so small now, give it a minute in case it turns out to be something else. If you decide to get rid of it, I’ll trade you for something.

What makes you say that? I had no idea he was special or different from my other torches. He was a hitchhiker on the cloves
The pics of the small heads with blue clove around it are definitely a baby torch head. The pics without the blue cloves look like a torch with two thirds of the tentacles missing. Was it feeding when you took those pics? Could you get a pic with it fully open?

It’s definitely a baby torch, no doubt. I’d fed the fish a couple minutes before taking that photo, might be why it looks a little weird. Grew this sucker from 3 puny little tentacles so I’m pretty happy with it’s progress. Will post another pic in the morning

I think base is different then a galexea ( I'm not expert) you just need to watch it and see. At first I thought it was a Cristata

Time will tell

Okay I took some more pictures, a little closer up. Pretty difficult without a porthole or real camera but just what I gotta deal with till I can save up for one. I tried to get some pics of the base. I noticed last night that it never really retracted or anything. My lights go out at 9:30 and I was feeding the scolies around 12. It looked exactly the same as daytime. 6A69B95A-CAE0-4CBF-9272-D4E7A21E6A23.jpeg 21A800CE-3B5E-4603-88BF-F97B4B1B2437.jpeg FECA5A66-D78B-48F4-AF46-61D879AF6CC5.jpeg
