The clowns I've had for about 3-4 years decided to start spawning again out of the blue last Sunday night.
The last time they laid eggs was several months ago.
I have no idea what sparked them to resume spawning. I haven't made any changes to their diet or their environment.
I've got a rotifer culture up and running to feed the fry.
Previously, I had trouble collecting the fry because of the location of the egg clutches.
I tried the staying up late, collecting by hand method the first time and caught a whole two fry.
The second hatch I attempted to use the Vossen larval trap, but it was hard to position due to the location of the eggs. It was ultimately a complete failure.
This time, I created a better solution out of sheet acrylic. It will cover the eggs and shield them from the hungry mouths in the tank until I can scoop them out.
We'll see how well it performs very soon. The eggs should hatch tomorrow night.
