The clowns I've had for about 3-4 years decided to start spawning again out of the blue last Sunday night.

The last time they laid eggs was several months ago.
I have no idea what sparked them to resume spawning. I haven't made any changes to their diet or their environment.

I've got a rotifer culture up and running to feed the fry.

Previously, I had trouble collecting the fry because of the location of the egg clutches.
I tried the staying up late, collecting by hand method the first time and caught a whole two fry.
The second hatch I attempted to use the Vossen larval trap, but it was hard to position due to the location of the eggs. It was ultimately a complete failure.

This time, I created a better solution out of sheet acrylic. It will cover the eggs and shield them from the hungry mouths in the tank until I can scoop them out.

We'll see how well it performs very soon. The eggs should hatch tomorrow night.

I’ve always been fascinated by breeding clownfish. I hope you’re successful. I’d love to learn how you were able to do it despite myself having one clown in one tank. Last time I made a pair, the female drew blood on my hand a couple times after she was 4ish years old and huge. Clowns are typically jerks.

Just a lot of luck and food variety I think. I did recently add another anemone to their corner, not sure if that helped nudge them into spawning again.

I've never had a clown that attacked my hand, I hear about it a lot from others though

Tonight is hatch night, we'll see how many fry I end up with.

Yes sir it will be. I appreciate the follow. Maybe we can trade clown babies for banggai babies soon 👍
😂 I can trade y’all a few Andrew Jackson’s for some baby fish. I hope the hatch goes good tonight that shield is actually pretty smart! But how do u plan on catching the fry? I’m guessing with like a small hole net?

Seems the information I was looking at wasn't completely correct. Most articles say 8-10 days, so hatch night might be tomorrow instead.
Once they're contained in the shield I can easily scoop them out and transfer them to the fry tank. The top of the shield will be right at the top of the waterline.

They didn't hatch last night, and now I have to go to work. Do I remove the cover and hope they last until tonight or leave the cover in place?

You can see their little eyeballs! It’s gotta be soon... Id hate for them to hatch while you’re at work and you lose them, but don’t they need the parents’ care?
After getting the rotifer culture and everything else ready, I would be a little sad if they hatched while I was at work.
I decided to leave the cover in place and added an airline to get some water movement/oxygen in the box.

Thankfully the eggs didn't hatch while I was at work.
I removed the cover when I got home to see what the clowns would do. They immediately started eating eggs, I lost about 10 or so before I pushed them out of the way and put the cover back on.
The eggs will stay inside the cover until they hatch. if I do the same thing next time, I'll drill a hole at the bottom of the cover and insert an airline permanently to keep the eggs swaying.
Hopefully these guys hatch tonight.

Ok so from newly hatched fry what’s the time frame of them starting to look like clowns to tell what coloration/ patterns they will have? Also from feeding rotifers and brine shrimp is there a special type food to feed the food (Hope that makes sense) to get the most out of each baby clown?

Day 10 is the metamorphosis according to what I've read. We'll see if I can make it that far.
Ideally, I would have a phytoplankton culture and use that to feed the rotifers. Second best option would be rgcomplete from Reed mariculture/reef nutrition.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any RGcomplete locally so I'm using oyster Feast as a food source for the rotifers.
Besides that, TDO A&B are also highly recommended after you feed rotifers for several days.
