Did you check your insurance policy to see if you have window coverage? We are having one replaced and it's only costing us $50 out of pocket.

Our Comprehensive deductible is $50 also, so that is all it costs us to get a windshield replaced by insurance. The only times I've had it done we've used Binswanger and a small independent shop by my work, but that has been years ago. You just need to call all of the places you can find and get a quote. Most of them are mobile and can come to you.

I wonder why my insurance was quoting me a really high price for the deductible? I guess I need to call them back to see why they quoted me a high price.
What it the independent shop's name? are they still there?

Most windshields off market are between the $55 and $95 the rest is all markup or labor.
I just replaced two windshields for my work HD Ford trucks, it cost me only $140 + tax and we dropped them in our self.
It's not as difficult as most ppl think, it's like replacing T5 bulbs............. you take something out and put a replacement back in, how difficult can that be?!?

It was Atlas Auto Glass -Windshield Replacement Houston and Auto Glass Repair over by my work off Montrose. I got my Mustang windshield replaced for $120. It was totally my fault breaking it, so I didn't bother with insurance. And your deductible just depends on your coverage. Most people have $250 or even $500 deductible on comprehensive, so if it costs less than your deductible, maybe they quoted you a discounted insurance rate.

Nice insurance... And that was for the whole windshield to be replaced? Where did you take your car to?

Yes, they are completely replacing it. I don't know who's doing the work though. Its my wife's car and she's having them come to her office next week to do the swap.
This is traveler's insurance.
The insurance we had with Allstate didn't have the $50 windshield replacement. If you got a rock chip or crack less than 6" long, they would pay for it to be stopped and filled, but not a full replacement.

Ok thanks that might be why ours is a lot more expensive. The crack is over 14" long now it started out like 6" but grew to what looks like 14" maybe a little longer.
