Man, that would be God sent!

I’d definitely invest in that one! Have they discussed price yet??

I don't think so and I believe delivery date has slipped a few times. I like the apex integration for all 3 but honestly I only check Ca and Mg once a week or every couple of weeks.

Alk I do every day and like the thought of having it checked 4 times/day...

+1. I check Mg like once a quarter and Ca should track with alk so I found the need to have those automatically tested to be not useful for me.

They also invented this stuff that you can pour into your tap water that takes the chlorine out instantly. It's pretty handy.

I believe they said that the unit will be roughly around $600. You just have to buy the refill agents once a month, which run for $40 for the 3.
Wow! That's $480/year of reagent costs to test. I wonder if you can just buy their alk reagent and choose to only test alk?

Currently for comparison, alkatronic for $800 and one $110 4 liter bottle of reagent lasts for 3 years of testing. No Mg or Ca testing though but in my scenario at least, even if i had the ability to monitor those two, I'd rarely use them.

I definitely would pay for a good alk reader where I could mount next to my electronic temp read and
see it everytime I walked in the door. I hope they are building it where you can check multiple tanks
but doubt that.

they are not, it would be rather complex due to the way its implemented. there used to be a nice thread over on r2r but I think they removed it as the guy that developed it, commercialized it into the alkatronic.

I do agree with farmer ty, In the maintenance world I often found less is better. So if Im checking for things
I don't need that gives me more opportunity for things to break.

I recall in innapropriate reefer’s recent video the expected release of the trident was around August or September. One of the RAP representatives for Neptune Systems said it is still in testing.

What gets me is the $40/month for reagents. Reefers have some deep pockets. That's like sending a Triton test off monthly... Or buying a new test kit monthly. I find the maintenance cost a bit absurd. Is it just me? $500/year in just reagent?

It's not you. That's crazy, but brilliant for them, that recurring cost adds up.

or another frag/month...

That's why I'm avoiding it for now. Its just like Adobe switching to a monthly fee to use their software (Photoshop and Lightroom) versus purchases anymore. Why have people just do a one time hardware purchase when you can milk them for reagent every month... Basically put Neptune in your personal payroll. It drives me nuts that companies do this.
