Installed a turbo twist 18watt uv lastnight and picked up a Red Sea Ca, Alk,Mg test kit so I can start testing more accurately for my two part dosing. The only thing that was low was my magnesium which from what I hear was to be expected on a first test. Pict's below. Hopefully I can start buying 3 sps corals a month now to get things going right. We shall see.lol. Pict's below......

Just a great equipment update/review for my SRO-3000int protein skimmer. Its no joke. I spilled about half a week/1" worth of nasty skimmate back into my sump when trying to service/clean the skimmer and I was pissed to say the least, lol. Well to my enjoyment as soon as I turned the skimmer back on within 1 minute I had big bubbles collecting and within 10minutes it had pulled all that I spilled into the tank right back out..lol... woozers... my tank was cloudy and everything but minutes later crystal clear. I love my reef oct.

I've done that before on accident! That is one thing I don't like about the skimmers. Trying to separate the cup full of gunk from the body is kinda tricky. It's like it stays stuck for a second and then all the sudden lets loose. Gotta be careful taking it off for sure.

I hate when the power goes out and my cups needs to be cleaned, then the sump fills up. When the power comes back on the skimmer pushed everything out cause of the higher water level in the sump. Grrrr

I have my skimmer programmed to wait 1 minute to power up after a loss of power or a feeding cycle to allow the water level in the sump to stabilize before it powers on. Works great. I've never had it overflow because of the water level in the sump. If you have an Apex controller I'd suggest using the code.
