there is no problem using steel what do you think they make oil platforms jackets out of. They will have some sort of cathotic protection.

I wonder how many polyps it would take to cover the bottom of that tank?

Why not use fiberglass or PVC piping?

Just one of many outlandish projects they build with the money we spend on oil.

Ever see the indoor ski resort?

Actually, if you maximize that picture, it looks like it's probably plastic piping of some sort.
Would expect metal / steel to require flanges / bolts for joining sections, this stuff has the ends expanded so one piece fits into the other, like 4" SWD pipe.

I will post more pictures as I get them and should have a recap of some of the design features next week. This week they were debating the number of fish. The range is currently 55,000 to 80,000 fish.

The water will be seawater that is circulated through an unbelievable amount of sand filters and will use large scale heat exchangers for temperatute control.

Most of the piping is supposed to be fiberglass.

Those "windows" on the left side of the photos are viewed from a lobby type viewing area on the bottom and will be viewed through hotel suites on the top. A curtain will close in your suite to block the view or open to look into the tank.
