I have an option of adding a medium sized six line wrasse to my community aquarium. Is it a good fish to add? Will it chase and fight with any of the existing fish in the tank??

Total fish in tank already:
2 Green chromis
1 Yellow tail blue damsel
1 Bicolor angel
1 Black chromis
2 oscellaris clowns
1 firefish
1 cleaner shrimp
2 Peppermint shrimps
Some hermit crabs and a olive snail.

It fish is different. It is impossible to say where that particular wrasse will take exception to one of your existing fish (or vice versa). However, there should be no problem. 6 lines are pretty decent tank mates. They pretty much just dart in and out of the rocks in my experience.

Thanks for your responses. I have added him and so far he's only inspecting the rock work. Haven't seen him eat much so far. Hopefully he wont bother my firefish.

Btw, can I add a yellow or diamond goby (any 1) to my tank with a wrasse present?

Welcome!
I have a diamond goby and a six line and there hasn't been any issues. Sixline cruises the rocks, diamond filters sand all day, it's rather amusing.

What size tank are you keeping the six line in?
It was good that you added this fish after all of the other fish were added. Esentially making the six line a "new kid on the block". I have heard that six lines do get aggressive though, especially towards other wrasses, and newly added livestock.

I had a small one that thought it could pick on a full grown mystery wrasse, which of course annoyed me to say the least... But, that only lasted a week. Somehow the 6line "mysteriously" disappeared! :)

They do tend to be pretty mean though, and beyond wrasse they cause problems with pseudochromis; which I would be fine with if not for the Fridmani. Hopefully everything will be okay and the advice thus far is good. Though I did have one that chased a purple firefish into hiding constantly.

I think firefish look for a reason to hide:D I had a clown chase one a couple weeks ago and he jumped out... Foutunately I was standing right there(what are the odds?). I've only seen it twice in 2 weeks.... Thought it was dead for the first week.

Good point, and hmm, maybe 9.3:1? This particular wrasse would actually stop an inspect/guard the hole where the firefish hid, but with the kind of speed they have it's hard to say for certain if the 6-line was just curious or not. I don't think so though because it would bolt from 4' away to do this. Anyway, I like your comment about each fish having the propensity for a different disposition. I thought that was one of the neatest discoveries I made early on in reefing.

What a butthole. BTW, I did the math. 9.3:1 is prolly about right. 24hr/9.3=2.58hrs. I actually have two bar chairs pulled up in front of my tank!!! My mom had suggested, when I first began the inwall project, that I put a bar there b/c she knew I would be spending hours in front of my tank. I really should have...

But anyway. Dubai hows the 6 line getting along? Bullying anybody too bad?
