So, I've been working WAY too hard lately (learning my way in a new company) and I haven't posted in a long time, but this is a pretty good comeback post.

I've decided to get join the high-tech/nano crowd.

Drilled ADA 30C (12x12x12 cube) - Ya, that's right, drilled ADA!

Vortech MP10W ES - OK, I admit it, this is an AWESOME pump.

2x Ecoxotic Panorama Strips - I can fit more, but two really seems to pack quite a bit of punch in this tiny aquarium. The tank looks brighter than my main system.

I have it set up and cycling at the moment. I purchased two very cool spiral corals at City Pets this weekend. They're loving my main system - which has become a little boring for me lately because I know I've got the wrong lighting 5x T5's with reflectors basically suck compared to 2x 250w halides, but I'm digressing.

I'm going to leave my current filtration design out of this conversation; I'd rather just watch my coral grow than argue about sand beds and skimmers for a 7G tank.

So, should I go crazy with a skimmer, ATO, chiller, dosing pumps and a controller for my Nano? It's tempting; everything's so much cheaper when you're not dealing with >200G of water.

I've got all these spare ballasts around; I wonder what a 400W radium would do to a 7G aquarium? (I'm pretty sure the water would just turn to mist.)

Need more pictures lol.

If you're doing LEDs. No need for chiller right? I would do a ato just to save me the hassle of topping off daily.

Are you planning to have fish? How are you feeding your nps?

Feeding NPS - In my mature reef, it is my opinion that there's more than enough yummy microfauna in the water to keep these corals happy. In the nano, I'll be feeding a variety of reef nutrition products.

A chiller would be to battle the Houston heat more than heat from lights. I do run AC pretty cool, but summers here are generally brutal.

I'll add a Tunze ATO pretty quickly. I've got one on my main system (it's been over a year) and love it.

I am on the fence about fish; this will be a coral and other invert dominated tank.

Welcome back...I see some old members coming back.

One other thing to add to your list-dosing pumps. For a tank that size, it would be great to make things automated.

:needpics:

I have been waiting months to use that emoticon.

I was thinking of buying one of the 12x12x12 from picoaquariums.com eager to see how your drilled tank looks

I've got a liter meter III on my main system, and it's awesome. I'f it could control 4 pumps, I'd be golden. Sadly, no.

Yes, I agree that is useless without pics. I am interested in ideas regarding aquascaping. I'm considering zero live rock on the display, just a couple of beautiful acro colonies and the spiral coral.

very intriguing set up.

while I can't agree with you on the use of canister filter when you plan on feeding heavily to support nps, i am interested in how they all do. I have to say those led strips are a lot brighter than I thought.

Also.... is there any particular reason not to bury the heater in the sand?
