Duh? :? I didn't think about that. Does anyone know what the max flow through a SCWD is? Guess I should look that up.


JR, I was thinking of maybe running the closed loop discharge under substrate, ending in several outputs, like you have your return. The only thing is that I'd have to have two holes drilled in the bottom for the closed loop return to accomodate the SCWD. Hmmm. Something to think about.

i thought about using a scwd on my under ground jets. instead of dilling two holes You could drill one hole about 6-8" from the bottom, and put the scwd inside the tank upside down. so you'd pump water through the bulkhead to the input on the scwd, since its upside down the outputs will be near the sand and you can do the undergound jets from there( I hope that makes sence).

I think the scwd's can handle up to 1400 gph or something like that. If you put the scwd inside your tank the only problem would be if it breaks replacing it but then you could just have a valve on the outside.

One other thing you need to think about is TEMPERED GLASS BOTTOM. I beleive at the beginning of this thread you said this tank was an oceanic 75g, if this is the case I can alomost be certain that the bottom panel of glass is tempered. Usually there is some kind of sticker on the bottom panel warning you it is tempered and not to drill. Just thought you might want to think about that when deciding of how many holes and where. In this case you would have to design an overflow that is drilled through the back wall. just my thoughts!!
