Anyone have any experience with these?

I'm planning on switching over to a refugium in the next month and was doing some planning for a skimmer. I originally had planned to go Bubble Magus until I realized that the footprint would be too big for a rufugium that will fit in my stand. My total refugium footprint will be no larger than 29"x11.25" and I plan to have 3 chambers. One for input from display and skimmer, one for refugium, and one for return. So I need a smaller footprint than 15"x10.5".

Any ideas?

Urchin Pro any good?

If not what's better?

Thanks for all the help guys and gals

The Urchin Pro does have a small footpriont which is why we have used it for a year. Don't expect to dry skim the best you can do is a darkgreen tea. If you go with it be sure and clean the injector with the cleaning brush art least once a month. Ours is on a 58.

Same thing here. It skims ok. I have a light bio-load, i only feed once every other day. And it fills the cup in about 2 weeks with dark brown water. The neck gets pretty gunked up with the dry stuff.

I'm upgrading tanks so I'll be selling it in about a month. It's only 6 months old. I can give you a good deal on it at that time if you are still interested.

Dennis,

I saw your post for the Urchin Pro skimmer review. Have you upgraded your tank yet? I am thinking about getting one. I plan to have at least 6 - 7 fishes and a variety of low maintenance corals in a 58 gallon tank. Would this be a heavier bio-load to what you have? Would you recommend it?

Jerry, since that last post I've been cleaning the collection cup (especially the neck in the cup) very well and the cup fills up in about 3 days with dark brown water. It's performing much better than it was. Sounds like you have a heavier bioload than me. Twice the amount of fish, anyway.

The tank upgrade is taking longer than expected, but the skimmer will be available when I do. I'm still waiting on my tank to be built.

mike.........the pro is a good skimmer.........i use the remora pro....but upgrade the pump...i use a mag5 pump with my remora pro and it skims really well. Usuually youll see a mag3 for high performance but i read people using a mag5 with the pro versions and it just skims really well.

Sorry guys this thread is old. I've actually already got my Bullet 1, and I'm working on the purchase of a gen-x 40 to run it.

Thanks for the input though!!!!
