Hey all - looking for a little advice. I'm trying to get back into the hobby after a long break, but need to do it on a shoestring budget, so I'm trying to ease in with freshwater. I picked up a tiny little 3 gallon Marineland tank for the kids from a neighbor, and it's a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Won't be able to have much more than a couple little guppies in it, or a beta. I've been thinking about buying a 20 high or 29 gallon Aqueon at Petco's $1 per gallon sale that's going now, and getting the glass/plastic lid, an over the back Aqua Clear filter, and a cheap LED light. I still have most of the other gear from my first couple reef tanks (heaters, powerheads, timers, etc).
The main question I have, is the Aqueon tank worth getting? I've seen a bunch of reviews on Petco's site about them leaking. The 29g shape looks nice for a fish-only tank that the kids can stare at, and should be able to handle a good bit of fish. I just don't want to waste my money (even tho it's only $29) on a piece of junk that's just going to leak. Does anyone have any experience with them either way? Also, the setup you can get now, with a hood, white LED light, Quietflow power filter... it would be a bit cheaper than getting individual parts, but would it be any good? Would I be better off looking for something used that would work from someone on here?
Thanks!
