I just moved to Houston a month or so ago and I was wondering about some decent spots to catch redfish. I moved from Corpus and I used to love the Port A jetties. Is Galveston jetties the best or are there other jetty systems that are better? Let me know. Thanks

I like the surfside setties better myself. Fishing is great, and walk up access is perfect. They are for the most part paved. (Storms have taken out a few sections of walkway). You can drive up, load your gear on a wagon, and wheel it to wherever you want to fish.

dfowls - I was born in Port A and moved from the Corpus area about 4 years ago and I have to say it's just not the same. I can look at the surf, flats, piers, jetties and just know when and where to catch the fish, here I haven't a clue. I've gone out countless times to areas that if I went to in Port A I'd have loaded up, but here maybe get a couple.
The best I've done on reds is wading the little flats before you go across the bridge, but I'm kind of limited on locations since I don't have a boat. The jetties and piers have been pretty dissapointing, so i just stay away from them. The nice thing I can say about this area is that you really don't have to buy bait. Almost anywhere you cast you can pick up some shrimp, mud minnows, and finger mullet. Let me know if you find a good place for some reds and trout b/c I'm still looking for that sweet spot!

just to let you all now if you now were sargent texas is there is GREAT spots to load up on reds and specs. I myself have limited out on reds more then once out there i caught a 20 23 25 inch then i caught a 28 and 29 inch so the two smaller ones went back. As for specs ive limited out and done the same thing using spec rigs under lights
