At first I thought it was a baby Fungia a Green Plate, but now I'm not sure. There seems to be a lot of soft tissue and I've yet to see a skeleton. If its a baby maybe the CaCO3 skeleton is real small. I have never had a Plate. Do they pull in at night? This one seems to be on a raised pedestal most that I have seen were flat on the bottom. Are there any corals that might resemble Fungia.

Thanks

It is a baby plate coral, they tend to really puff up with water so it may not have much of a skeleton yet. If its attached to the rock then it may be a Fungia Generation site where it produces baby plate corals. If so then that one should pop off on its own when its ready and fall to the sand and then another one will be produced there.

Thanks I took them with a Stylus 1030 SW. Its a point and shoot but its waterproof to 33 ft. so you can put it in macro, stick your arm in the water, and get right up on what you want to shoot.

I don't know why but it decided to turn purple. It is about double in size about the size of a silver dollar. I fragged it out of the zoas and placed it on a piece of flat oyster shell. The tentacles are multi tipped. Its not really like any other fungia that I have seen but there are a lot of them. That picture is about 2 mths old and it wasnt puffed up to good that day.
