Hello All,

I am about to build my first DIY calcium reactor (4" ID by 20" long). I have a couple of questions for those of you with experience.

1. How much recirculation flow is appropriate? I could run the pressure drop calcs, but I was hoping there was a rule of thumb out there for the flow.

2. Anyone have a preferred aragonite source for the reactor?

3. I plan a secondary bed to increase the effluent pH. Do you use the same aragonite in this bed as well?

4. Does anyone have a pump recommendation (preferrably inexpensive)?

I appreciate any advise anyone is willing to give.

Thanks,
Trey

Many reactors come with those eheim pumps....or something like a mag 2 or mag 3 or whatever would work. Crushed coral/aragonite would work for your chambers...use the same for each chamber...I think the second chamber is there to allow for a longer reaction period of the carbonic acid or whatever it is called...hehe...I would recommend that you just look at some of the PM reactors etc and get the basic idea and then just expand from there....I bet it will turn out great....make me one too...hehe Good luck Trey
