Ok, due to my Flame Angel, I think I'm going to hold off on the whole "trying out a clam thing."
I think I want to try out some Chalice. I've never kept it before and it looks like a pretty cool coral.

So, feel free to chime in with the usual. What have you found it to like as far as lighting, flow, etc...?

My tank is a 90gal with 6x54 T5 lighting.

I have two types in my 90. Lighting is 4 T5's driven by an icecap 660.

Mine seem to like it most at the halfway point of the tank. Sometimes even lower. I haven't really been able to make mine mad no matter what. Even when the green with pink dots fell in a hole in the rocks for 3-4 days. Bounced right back.

I'll say medium light, medium flow.

One thing though, they have some mean tenticles (seen a 4" one coming from a 1" frag) that come out at night so don't mount them close to corals.

My flame hasn't been a problem as of yet. I just didn't want to throw a clam in the tank and then watch as the angel made a meal out of it.
In my previous 72gal, I had a Coral Beauty for about 5 years with no problems at all.

Well, good luck then. Hopefully you'll be that lucky again. I tore the scape down to catch that hateful fish. I swore I was going to quarter it, at least until I had it in my hand. Just couldn't do it. So back to the fish store he went.

Funny enough though, it NEVER touched my crocea that was in the tank at the time. The coral was a different story.

From what I read, Chalice can be quite aggresive. Are they fast growers? I ask that for planning purpose as far as placement in proximity to other corals.

The growth of mine are similar to the favias in my system. Not too fast in my opinion. One of mine is within 2" of a favia and some spiderman zoas. It stung some zoas the other day so I"m considering relocation of one of them. I originally planned to let them grow out in opposite directions. :)
