I have a setup with a sump containing sponge media with no other baffles. enter sump, over baffle, through sponge, under next baffle and returned to aquarium or sent to the skimmer.

there is also a protein skimmer with a waste collector. right now I have a powerhead pumping water to the skimmer and the monster pump sending it back to the display. is this correct, or should the two be backwards with the stronger pump go into the skimmer? Is this wrong alltogether? I bought this used on craigs list and am a bit stumped. all these parts are pm/precision marine.

I see no bubbles in my skimmer. not a whole lot of aggitation to be honest.... water level is nowhere near the collection cup either.
thank you

We need a bit more information and photos if you have them.

What type of skimmer is it?
What are the pump types and sizes?
What size display and sump?

You need some adaptations on your skimmer pump for it to draw in air (typically an air-intake and a needle wheel impeller). You can't just use a regular pump on your skimmer, it won't produce any bubbles.
