That's what I eventually did. I went with 2-part and a home-made dripper. Still farily manual but I'm no longer chasing numbers.
Right now the reactor is running carbon but I can switch that over to kalk when I learn more.

I've used kalkwasser/ limewater as top off since day one with our 180. It was the most successful reef I've kept yet. About 99% of the system is still in a tub, and growing. It is a manual chore I would like to automate, somewhat. So, the reactor seems best for me, just not 200+ bucks worth.
