I need to find something to paint the top surface of a DIY aquarium stand with. Something that can take a few drips, and won't require me to towel them off immediately...

Someone recommended epoxy paint. anyone know where I could procure such a beast? Or any other options? I've seen a few DIY stand / canopies on the Tank Tours and at the Frag Swap. Anyone have some pointers?

I think as long as you use a good clear coat (polyurathane) you won't have to worry about water getting on it etc. I built my stand a month or so ago and it is under my carport and has been getting wet each and every time it rains and it is in perfect shape. lol

I found an poly / oil based floor paint at HD that I used on the inside and top platform of my stand. Sealed it very nicely and bright white.

Can check the can and provide details if you like.

I used an oil based stain and then coated well with polyurathane and it sealed great. I painted the inside of my canopy white and polyurathaned it as well.

Is that the same type of Epoxy that car dealerships use in their service area? i love that look. I want to add this to my garage as it cleans up easier. let me know if you find any.

I'm sure you can find a two-part marine safe epoxy paint at any boating supply house. Of course, it may be overkill for a tank stand. As suggested above, I'd juts go with several coats of polyurethane.
