First off, Hi! I'm new here, I'm happy to have finally found a forum that is local.

I have a 55g reef tank with one pj cardinal and a black percula and the lfs said a foxface would be ok to add. I do plan an eventual upgrade to a 75g but that won't be for at least a year (maybe a 90, but that's neither here nor there right now). I have tried to introduce smaller fish to the tank to their detriment due to the aggressive nature of Rosie (the percula), and they recommended the foxface. It is a beautiful species and the first fish I have been remotely excited about getting since my last attempt to add a fish, but I am worried my tank may be too small. Any thoughts?

I've never kept a Foxface but I have kept rabbit fish and they do get big, and in my case with a Scribbled Rabbit fish I lost Zoa's and most of a hammer coral to it.

A 55 is definitely on the small side for the Foxface. What other fish have you tried?

I've bought a small sailfin (before I knew it would have been too big for my tank), 2 blue damsels, 2 blue cromis, and something else before I gave up on getting fish entirely. I've looked but haven't seen anything I fancy until I saw this foxface.

foxfaces are good to have, very friendly, boisterous and good for algae control. drawbacks are they will get big on you, they make sure they are first to eat, and after awhile, they get to be a bit boring, from a coloration and uniqueness perspective. in all reality, 90 gallons is really the minimum sized tank to have a FF, and even so, it will outgrow the 90 quickly.
