green birdsnest dieing!! (1 Viewer)

i have an green birdsnest coral that i bought 2 weeks ago and it sits in the upper part of my 46 gallon aquarium, with t-5HO lighting.
it seems to be loosing alot of color and polps are retracted.. the is a GBTA, 2 true percula clowns,2 purple fire fish, flameback angel,2 golden assessors. on some parts of the coral i cant even see polps.

How old is the system and what do you have for life support?

Is the coral loosing flesh or just bleaching?

its been up for about 5 or 6 months, i dont know what you mean by life support? i have a sump with a protien skimmer if thats what ya mean.

well it lost almost all of its polps and lost all color, so i assuming it dead

but i still want to figure out why it died.also i found a strange snail on the coral a few days before i posted the question, could this maby killed it?

i doubt it was bleaching because i bought it out of a 8 bulb t-5 HO tank

How long did you have it before it died?

Big temp change?

Any other sps in the tank?

about 3 weeks, no temp changes, i run a chiller. no other corals in the tank either

Tank may have just been too young for SPS. They can be very tough to keep happy and your tank is very young.

thats a bummer . I did buy a hammerhead and torch coral right before christmas, and i've been watching the angel nippping the torch coral base. so i was think could the angel kill this one and the last one?

A nipping angle can kill a frag for sure.

so i think the angel is trying to kill the torch. i noticed it because my hammerhead was happy and opened up to where the angel cant get the the base and nip it, and because most of the base was in a hole. Unlike the torch where it was just placed in a spot..

ya, i wold return him but don is out of state!!
im going to try and put it in between two rocks so the angel cant get to it.
hopfully the angel wont kill the torch before don returnes
