Help setting up tank/sump/protein skimmer (1 Viewer)

Hi all! This is Jay from Conroe/Woodlands area. I have a 29 g hex aquarium that has been set up for almost a year now. We just got 115 g from danny over in bridge city. We have not used a sump yet and I was wondering if someone could explain how to hook up sump and PM protein skimmer That would be much appreciated so when we go to set it up and get the filtration system going so this time next year in our new house we can start some good coral growth and anenome's. Thanks.

sump & skimmer

From your questions, I assume you will need the most basic instructions.

In short, water in your tank overflows into an overflow, then drains into a sump, then you pump it back into the tank.

For skimmers, the manual will give you the details. For basic instruction, you can try one like this:

Basically you have a water pump to feed the skimmer with water mixed with air. The air bubbles rise and carry organic waste with them and overflow into a cup. When the cup is filled, you dump it out.

just remember the pump is usually submerged lol. i was looking at mine saying wth do i do with this? lol i have no plumbing to pull it out lol. this all depends on the skimmer and whether the tank is drilled.
