Just wondering how many of you guys out there keep any variety of leopard wrasse, how long have you kept them and what would you say has made you successful with keeping them? I thought I'd share a video of my recent additions, beautiful black leopard wrasse pair. I love how leopard wrasse can be mixed together and usually with no issues from what I have read and my current experience. I currently have 4 leopard wrasse total: 1 female blue star leopard (around a year), 1 male ornate leopard wrasse and 2 female black leopard wrasse. I currently am 1:1 blue star, 1:2 ornate, 2:5 black. Each time they would start eating at first nutramar but then once nutramar was no longer around I started using lobster eggs (Rlpardue did a large group buy-thanks for that) to get a feeding response for new additions, works like a charm. Eventually all my fish eat anything that is added to the tank and I currently use flakes with an automated fish feeder while I am at work just to make sure my fish have food available while I am gone. Would love to hear and see everyone's experiences with these fish. Thanks in advance for sharing.

I have a few, but same as you I buy 4 and only 2 will survive in the Diesel tank.
Mine go through a special QT first and I feed them fish eggs and live pods.
In my tank I have a large pod population and the leopards are fat little wrasses.

I'm due on Fish pics I know.
But I got Blue star Male and three females, one Choati leopard female, one Potters Leopard female and two Mauritius Jewel leopards.
I just love the way they move gently with elegance around the rock and corals hunt on everything that moves.

Did order a Macro lens for the Nikon yesterday for even better pics.
Will shoot some especially for you tomorrow, I have to be quick as they are photo-shy you know.

I found one pic with a Blue star under the right wing of the RIP Blondie.
I'm sure your Eagles-eyes will spot it, LOL

Yay, I'm so glad the leopards are enjoying the lobster egg product. It is truly a fantastic first food. Thanks for posting your experience. This is what I love about MARSH - sharing ideas, best practices, etc.

Anytime Lee. I just know I have had great results with the lobster eggs and thought I'd share especially since it was difficult to get some of my fish eating. They seem to work 99% of the time for me so far and everybody loves them, even my dendros open up every time they hit the water.
I know there are plenty of people buying leopards cause they always beat me to the purchase so I thought we could share our experiences. so let me see those leopards guys/gals. [emoji3]

Nobody else huh.... even if you haven't been successful with keeping leopards what do you think contributed to not being able to keep them long term. Anyone?

My son had one. It ate great for about a month then it just hid and died. Still don't know why.

They just don't make it long in captivity, just a fact.
No matter how good the food is you feed some how they miss that wild pod population nutrients.

I hear you. I'm just trying to gauge what's the average span some people have kept them.

Came home today from FJW and noticed my black leopards were eating flakes from the auto feeder like my other fish do. It was a pleasant surprise as I was worried they wouldn't take to the other foods like my other fish when I am away from the house. :ya:

Excuse the crappy video.

Great news!

What is that fish that appears around the 14th second? It looks like a freshwater molly that is now living in saltwater.

They can be acclimated to marine salt water levels, but they do better in a brackish tank.

It is a molly lol. I actually had another before and they had babies but my fish ate the babies and a hitchhiker crab killed the male. :-/
