I believe it's a LPS. but what is it?

i don't think it's a sunflower coral as it is not "closed" as it is shown in the picture

I got a 2 head frag at City Pets last year and they are about 20 heads now. These corals need a little special attention. They need to be target fed because they are non-photosynthetic. Feed them and keep your water right and they are beautiful interesting corals.
