Has anyone been to the LFS on 59/Sheperd? I never knew there was one there until I passed by during work last week. It said tropical fish and was a high traffic area. Wondering if its worth going one day? Not sure what the name of it was called.

They didn't sell SW when I used to shop there for FW but since then I heard they started selling SW. They were a bit pricey on the FW side when I shopped there but they had healthy livestock and had the best FW plants in the city.

Edward, it's funny that I was also surprised to see that store when I traveled on Shepherd this past Friday. Wondered if they had some nice SW stuffs but didn't have time to stop by. Hence, I intended to post here to ask if others know about this store.. and now you did it :)
I also saw Petsmart and Petco several blocks down from that store.

Just got back.. fish were average priced and had a nice setup, but the coral prices were overpriced. One leather sold for $180. I paid $35 for a leather at Aquatic Designs a long time ago that size.

Just got back from Tropical Village. Well I didn't see any EXOTIC sps , just 2 pieces brown acro, but the prices are very EXOTIC. That store is took over by Aquarium Enviroments.

They have some unbelievably high rent to pay right there, so I would assume the prices would match the area of town it's in.

But, I think we should give them a year before we write them off. Their fresh water area is top notch, and I bet they'll do the same with their SW as time and money permits.

They just started their SW department up about 2/3 months ago. They have a great reputation for FW planted tanks. From what I've seen their SW fish prices are very competitive. A friend got a harlequin tusk there for $35 a while back. I got a nice sized BTA with the tonga branch rock it was attached to for $10. Their coral prices are competitive for some things, a little high for others, but all in all not bad.

I was pleasantly surprised!

I got a BIG Montipora cap-type frag there for $15 - I considered that pretty good. It's green and purple.

I also bought a male and female C. solarensis there and they were both healthy and $25 each. In addition, I got a captive grown P. friedmani which I have been wanting for a LOOOONG time.

Cheers

I stopped by there again last week and their prices on corals dropped significantly. They were very cheap. They were mostly softies

They get SPS in but it goes fast because the prices are pretty good.

I think if we give them time, prices will start to be competitive, even considering the area it is located. Scott seems like a nice person and willing to try to discount where he can. It doesn't hurt to ask for a deal. Besides, we are still trying to get him as a sponsor, so if they see we can bring in more traffic, this could seal the deal.

I saw the Shepard exit from 59 today, close by to the medical center.
What side of 59 is Village Tropical on? The same side as Rice University?
