I need to buy lights for a new 120 (4x2x2). I have looked at everything from HID to T5s. From $200 T5 fixtures to $900 T5 fixtures. I'm not looking for Rock Star lighting equipment, but not wanting to make a mistake either - I'm wondering if purchasing a regular non-brand name 8 bulb fixture is a mistake over buying, say an 8 bulb IceCap setup.

I have heard great things about ATI, but I think that is a little to rich for me - unless it make sense - meaning a little more money up from saves me money in the long run. I thin most people are happy with IceCap retro kits.

Just looking for a little advice to add to what I have already read.

And yes I would like to end up with a great looking sps tank.

Are you wanting a retro kit to build into a canopy or a fixture to hang over the tank. Honestly the best bang for the buck is the Sunlight Supply TEK fixture.

The lights will be inside a canopy. I'm having a stand and canopy built for me, so I need to make sure what ever lighting I get fits inside.

I bought my retro kit from Reef Geek one of our sponsors and they are great fixtures. The kit comes well packaged and ready to go with instructions. You can get them in standard HO or V-HO. The V-HO uses the Ice Cap ballasts and pushes the bulbs really hard. I didn't like the way the Ice Cap threw off the light spectrum so I'm using the standard HO T5 ballasts and they work great.

As a paid member you also get a discount from Reef Geek.
Paid MARSH members discount: Over $250=5% : Over $500.00=7% : Over $1000.00=9%

Good combo.

I just replaced all the bulbs in my Constellation fixture from ReefGeek. The ATI 12K looks exactly like the 10K.

Just received the lights from Reef Geek yesterday - on time, extremely well packed and everything as ordered.

Nice company to do business with.
