Get some High Output T5 lighting and you can keep pretty much anything you want. You won't have the shimmer of Metal Hallide, but you won't have the heat or energy costs, either. And you can play around will kinds of color combinations by mixing different bulbs.

Are you putting them under a canopy or suspending over the tank with no canopy?

Well, then it comes down to which way you decide to go, and your budget.

The Nova Extreme Pro is supposed to be a nice self contained unit. Check out www.marinedepot.com
This kind can not be used under a canopy.

I have a canopy so I went with a retrofit "kit", but i didn't want a kit that had to be soldered together so I went with a 6 bulb fixture with moonlights from Catalina.

There's tons others out there. Take a look around and narrow down your budget and needs/wants.

Correct me if I'm wrong anybody but I think those are known to light on fire. Some cheap t5 can be dangerous but make sure you get the t5 HO

I think you may be referring to the speculation surrounding "Odyssea".

It's been said that they have caught fire. I've never seen any proof of this however.
