Good afternoon everyone,
I've been running only Kessil A360WE's on my 75g for about 2 months now and my softies LPS and SPS have been coloring up beautifully! Unfortunately, I've noticed one issue, the shadowing has killed out parts of my SPS and is causing uneven growth. Because of that I decided to add a pair of T5s that I will run in the middle of the day to supplement my LEDs. I purchased a relatively affordable reflector the Coral Life 48'' Aqualight. Reading reviews online I've also decided to use ATI bulbs (The Blue Plus and the AquaBlue Special) does anyone have another recommendation in terms of bulbs I can switch to later on?
My current lighting schedule is the Kessils turn on at 8am and ramp up for 3 hours (until 11am) to 75% intensity at around 40% color until 7pm where they begin to ramp down. I want to have the T5s turn on around 12 and go until 4pm to give it about 4 hours.
My question is will this type of lighting bleach my lower light corals over time (I have a gorgeous meat coral that sits at the center of the tank away from the lights)? My acclimation will be to start out with one hour of T5 lighting this week and then add on one hour a week afterwards until I hit about 4 hours? Does this sound like a solid approach?
Thank You!!
