Ok, well I had actually thought that I started my cycle on Saturday, but nothing happened and everything was perfect. So the lfs told me to buy a fish and yes I did this...I know I know don't yell 8O

Anyway I put him in yesterday and here my test results now. This is my 2.5 gal tank. Don't worry tomorrow I will be getting a 30 gal and as soon as it is finished cycling I will put the fish in it. He is not staying in the 2.5 gal. I am going to keep the 2.5 gal as a QT tank. But I am practicing with the water before I get the larger one. I will probably use uncured rock to jump start the new tank.

Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20
Temp 75
Do I need to do a partical water change or at least a top off?

yea you can a top off when you see the water level decrease or just check for salinity... the top of is for your salinity stability. you dont want it to spike to high or drop to low. you can get a hydrometer and see if it is between 1.022-1.024 (this is mine is kept at) others might have it different.

anywho instead of a 30G why not something bigger like a 45 i can sell you my whole setup :D

Well the 30 gal is being given to me. How much do you want for you whole set up? PM me.

My hydrometer reads 1.021 So can I top off now? It is about 1/2 low.
