I bought 2 10g tank and been running one without a hood and one with a stock hood. i've seen a lot of tank without a hood.

which is prefered? why run one with a hood or why not? the hood has a t8 and the one with out is CF

-Use a hood if you're into the DIY/custom lighting. Usually requires a fan to draw out the heat.
-No hood if you have a nice rimless tank. You are usually limited to store bought fixture. Contemporary & less heat.

thanks that helped! so it doesnt really matter. just on the setup i want. i usually keep my hood open. it gets hot. and the evaporation lessens a lot.
