I have a star polyp colony that has a problem. it has had an area in the middle that looked like brown powder, thought it was dissolved food or something but after blowing it off it comes right back. Now it has a second area. Guessing an infection or parasite but need to narrow it down for treatment. I am posting a picture or two. Any info would be appreciated.
I am just getting started on this tank and am still on a steep learning curve.

Possible you may be getting a buildup of some type of cyano or something. Move it to an area which gets a substantial abmount of flow and see if that helps. GSPs will usually do ok regardless of where you put them. However, they can become prone to algae buildup on their base. About every other night I make sure to use the turkey baster on mine to get any built up junk off the coral.
