So with City pets having a great sale price ($27) on this bucket (reg. $45) for their anniversay sale next month.

Yay! or Nay! in getting this brand? No doubt it's a great price but are there risks this type of salt?

Alot of people use this salt successfully in their tanks. There are some areas that the salt is a little deficient especially for my SPS needs. I know of a few RC TOTMs that use this salt, they have to tweek it slightly but they still use it. I think at the end of the day you just have to say, this is what I want, does this salt give me what I need, if it does then great.

I just read their post for that sale and you have to spend $100 to get the salt for $27.

"Sorry, its $27 a bucket (limit 4) with purchase of additional of $100.00. Hoping to make a lil back from that to even break even. We are definitely losing our *damsel* off with this price. Its a loss loss leader on our end. Please understand where we are coming from. Hope to see everyone there.

David.

I have used that salt before I will not be using it again it has left some nasty residue in my buckets and my brute trash can and have had a really hard time getting it removed. So I will be going back to my Tropic Marin Pro salt or maybe Reef Crystal salt. All I know is that I have never had a residue left behind from the Tropic Marin Pro salt ever...

If you really want to get rid of the residue fill the bucket about 75 percent full with water and then add 25 percent muratic acid. Let it soak a while then pour out and rinse. Muratic acid does put off some nasty vapors so please read all of the warnings. You can get it at lowes where they have the pool supplies.

I dump it In my pool and just rinse the bucket :).

You could always add the acid/water to a mixture of water and baking soda (anything basic) to neutralize it or use it to clean the sidewalk or driveway.

I have read it can be put down the toilet but that would probably need further research.

always - safety first. This is a strong acid so proper safety precautions should be taken.

I really wish I had seen this. I just bought a bucket from Dennis. Oh well, I guess I will pick up a few more at the sale price. It may not be the absolute best but it's still really good salt, thanks for the heads up!
