Hi, I just bought a tank, with coral and fish, it came with an orange sun coral. Anyone have experience feeding these? what is the best tool to feed? and what type of feed is the best... all tips appreciated..thanks
you can target feed them with brine/ mysis. and i do believe they prefer a rather shaded spot rather then full on intense light. also welcome to marsh!
Yes they are not photosynthetic, but most will tolerate light to some degree. They do require routine feedings to thrive. I feed mine once a day, but they will extend their polyps much more frequently and accept food when open. Place them where you can easily feed them. I just dissolve a mysis/brine cube in front of them and the current does the rest. Watch the base of the polyp/eye. It will recede when not cared for properly.
thanks everyone for the good feedback, and help, I used the turkey baster, and was hoping someone had a more practical idea, since it is short, and I have to have my arm in the water....and take it out to refill....
Also, I didn't think to just place the food in the vicinity was enough, I have read in a few places I would have to feed each polyp individually.. and saw one guy on youtube doing it that way..
