Not really sure where to put this question, figured this seemed best place.. Not sure if I'm missing it but is there a list of the pros for becoming a supporting member? If not could someone fill me in on all the perks (I've found a few like discounts and posting in wtt/wtb)?

Discounts, events (even though I think guest are also invited), posting in the selling/buying part of the site, and most importantly it keeps this site up and running. Membership is cheap and there are people that will donate livestock/frags to members. I am sure there are even more but as long as it keeps the website running I am good with it.

Those are the two biggest perks to membership. The discounts at our sponsors really do add up. You also get to attend events like the end of the year party. There are raffles at the party too. Each paid membership contributes to MARSH's budget for food at events, hosting events like the conference and coral farmer's market that we are working on and club items. I find it to be the best spent $30/yr in my budget.

Discounts from sponsors, access to members only areas, supporting an organization of like minded individuals (i.e. your dues help pay the bills for the website, buy gifts for raffles unless they are donated, pay for meals during tank tours etc.).

No one really mentioned the best part of being a member....

All the other wonderful members who are there when you need help, need advice, need quick access to something that you would otherwise have to have shipped. This forum and the wonderful members are priceless!

Agreed Allison. It doesn't even have to be a monetary reason. I personally just like being part of the community and help support the club. I'd still be a paid member even if the discounts weren't given.

the discounts are nice, i do tend order alot of stuff online, live and non live, but I will on occasion will use the discount. I'll occasionally offer free frags to members. Heck i don't even attend that many social events, it's not really part of my personality for the most part. But i don't regret making my donation to marsh each year. I do use the site quite a bit, and it's good to donate to a cause I truly believe in. To me, this is way better than giving a few bucks to the street beggar who is only going to use it to buy cigarettes and alcohol.

I have something to say about the members here. My wife and I don't really go to the meetings/functions with Marsh, and have not met to many of you, but the ones we have met have been fantastic people. When my 225 split a seam and we bought the 280 I needed help getting it from the garage into the house and up on the stand. Three quarter inch glass is heavy. I put it on here and perfect strangers took their time to drive out to League City to help me. That is what membership gives you. I shop at only sponsor stores and I have never asked for my discount. What I have gotten is worth way more than the monetary benefit I could get from that little card.

Occasionally an already paid member will offer free stuff in exchange for you buying a membership :)
