What is the best company to get a land line from? All I need it for is our security system. Just a plain jane phone line that will probably never be used for phone calls unless they are local. I can't get digital phone from Time Warner since it isn't in our area so I have to find a different alternative. I know that there is Vonage and SBC. Anything else out there worth trying?

AT&A had them for almost 2 years with internet & Dish network. Satilite has worked better than i expected during heavy rains it hardly goes out. Even if it does you can still use the DVR. If you happen to use cingular for you cell phone they give you like a $10 discount to combine billing.

Good point... I will have to check into AT&T. Thanks!

If your looking for a actual landline, youll most likely only have one option.

If you want a broadband phone thats different, but its probally not compatible with your alarm.

Also Kim if you do go with a digital phone. If the electric goes out so does the phone. To me its better to have a least 1 land line.

I need something that gets a dial tone, so I am not sure that a broadband phone will work. I am probably just going to call AT&T since I have Cingular.

Yeah I know, luckily we won't be doing that since it isn't offered in our area, plus a regular line is cheaper.

Of course if you house is older like mine it''s not even worth it.
My phone line runs right off the back of the house, so any thief could walk to the back yard, cut the phone line with scissors, then break in and the alarm aint going to do a thing with no line cut by scissors.

I prefer getting a loud outdoor siren and mounting it in the attic hidden in an eave so if a breaking did happen, everyone on your block is going to know about it.

Now if everyone does this. No one would have a phone line to call it in.
